Remember our photos from our family of three photo shoot? These were our first official photos as a family of four and I never posted them for some reason so I wanted to post them now so that I have them here. We got these taken around this time last year (well, in June)- Joseph was just about 6 months old here (I think a couple weeks under!)! I can’t believe how much changes in a year! Now it’s already past time for me to do his 18 month update!
Shortly after these photos were done we took our first trip as a family of four to Montauk and it was incredible! This was also the beginning of our travel series (see here for more!) and it’s been so much fun picking out new places to travel as a family… we still do some trips with just me and Joe but we really do love traveling with the kids! Long weekends and road trips are our favorite. If you follow along on Instagram, you’d know that Joe and I actually recently drove home from Atlanta and stayed overnight in Asheville so stay tuned for my 24 hour guide to Asheville!
I love this dress! It’s actually on sale right now in this color (coastal blue), too! I also love this antique rose shade. I originally bought this dress to wear to a wedding and later decided it would be perfect to wear for family pictures. I think materials that have some fluid movement (think chiffon, tulle, gauze, or anything flowy, really) photograph really nicely so I try to wear something that has some movement when I’m going to be taking pictures. I also think that usually simpler is better when it comes to choosing outfits and accessories so I try to stay away from too much pattern & to keep my accessories minimal. I want to look back on my photos in 50 years and not think, “what was I thinking?!” For a similar reason, if it’s a family photo, I like our colors to coordinate but NEVER match!
on Britt: dress: Show Me Your Mumu (on sale!), more colors here
on Joe: polo: Vineyard Vines, shoes: M.Gemi (these are his favorite shoes)
on Amelia: dress: Gap, moccasins: Freshly Picked (my all time favorite baby shoes)
on Joseph: outfit: Gap, moccasins: Freshly Picked
Happy Friday! I know it’s been really quiet around here and it’s because aside from Joe traveling for two weeks in June (and I traveled with him one of the weekends), we’ve been getting ready to move in two weeks! It’s hard to believe that it’s almost here and we’ll be moving out of our first house, the house we bought when we were 22 years old, where we stayed the night after our wedding, where we brought home both of our babies. BUT I’ve been using all of my free time to pack so my writing and photographing time has been compromised for the time being. Like I mentioned before, though, I’m in the process of writing a 24 hour guide to Asheville so that will be posted soon! And I know this too shall pass so I’m just concentrating on taking one day at a time and enjoying the summer with my babies! Thanks for checking in and for following along!!! Love you!
