On one hand it’s hard to believe it’s already May and that Mother’s Day is next week and on the other hand it seems like we’ve been waiting for May to arrive for forever now! Isn’t that how it always goes? Anyway, Joe asked me what I wanted for Mother’s Day this year and while I usually have a ton of ideas, I had a hard time coming up with one on the spot for this year. We’ve been house hunting, both seriously and not seriously, for over a year now and recently it’s gotten a little more stressful. It has me contemplating a lot of the “stuff” in our house and in my closets and I know I need to get the kids some summer clothes because nothing fits them from last year so I have been trying not to spend a ton on myself. Anyway, here are some ideas if you find yourself in the same boat and don’t know what to buy for a Mother’s Day gift!
Framebridge for framed photos- you can send in a print copy of a photo, upload one, or even use a photo from your Instagram! Then you can choose the frame. I’ve had two Instagram photos done by them before and the quality is amazing!
Made by Mary for hand stamped or personalized jewelry. I wear my bar necklace with my kids’ names on it every day. I also really like the idea of these stackable bracelets and getting them in the colors of your children’s birthstones (I would do Amethyst for Amelia for February and Turquoise for Joseph for December). Find your birthstone here!
Nautical Wheeler for ocean inspired jewelry. I have a wave ring from her that reminds me of the ocean that I also wear every day!
If you don’t want to do a framed photo or personalized jewelry, I really like the idea of getting a nice straw beach tote like this one and filling it with fun things for the summer like a pair of sandals, sunscreen, sunglasses, lip treatment with SPF, a coverup or sarong and a classic towel! Maybe even add a book and an insulated water bottle!
If she’s not a beach person, this backpack is also incredible and you could give it as in or if you have people to go in on the gift with you, you could fill it with workout gear (insulated water bottle, ear buds, a pair of leggings or a sports bra, a ball cap, etc.) or a pair of sneakers!
For the mom on the go, try a classic tote bag and tie a silk scarf on the handle. Fill it with daily essentials (there’s that insulated water bottle again!) like a new phone case, travel sized beauty items or a lip treatment, or comfortable slides.
For the homebody, pick up a basket and add a throw blanket, a diffuser, and some essential oils (see below) or a candle, and maybe a pajama set. And for the beauty lover, you could opt for a new makeup bag & fill it with beauty products (see my beauty picks under my SHOP tab at the top of this page!)!Don’t feel like you have to use any or all of these suggestions to fill whatever it is you’re using, they’re just fun ideas!
I like the above ideas for gifts because if you’re anything like me, they’re things you don’t like spending the money on for yourself but are always on your wish list. I have no idea why this is as I wear workout clothes every. single. day. and obviously beach essentials are necessities for our numerous beach days but I have had the same pair of sneakers for the past 2 years and keep procrastinating buying a new pair (just in case you’re reading, Joe- I’m an 8.5 and really like Nike’s, haha!) and didn’t get a good beach bag until this Christmas!
If you’re not into any of those ideas, I would highly recommend essential oils as a gift. If you haven’t tried them yet and you know the woman you’re buying for would be interested, depending on your budget I would either recommend a starter kit (mostly because you get SO much with it) or starting with a diffuser and a do-it-all oil like lavender (unless you know she has a favorite scent or doesn’t like lavender). Also, if you could let me know if you have any interest in learning more about essential oils, I’ll compile a post! We use them all the time and really love them!
If all else fails or you just don’t have the budget, go for flowers (even if you pick them on the side of the road) and maybe a homemade baked good! I don’t know about you but any time I have a homemade dessert my day is instantly brighter!
