I know we’ve all seen the “wearing vs. styling” trend on social media but I haven’t seen many of them featuring casual looks so I thought I’d give it a try. If you’ve been here a while, you know I really love to be comfortable and, fortunately or unfortunately, in the winter that looks a lot like frequently wearing sweatpants. Aside from the fact that compressive leggings sometimes feel too tight on my stomach, it gets really cold here in winter and I really like to be warm! I also like to feel somewhat put together… so, if you’re like me, you like to find ways to dress up your sweats 🙂
I know it’s probably an unpopular opinion but I’m not a jeans girl. I wear jeans when I’m going out somewhere and need to actually look “nice” and if the occasion calls for something nicer than jeans, I go right to a dress.

While the look on the left (“wearing”) looks just fine as it is, I styled it (on the right) first by adding a button down shirt underneath and popping the collar and rolling the sleeves of the sweatshirt so you could see the striped cuffs of the shirt. I also scrunched down my socks a bit so you were able to see the athletic stripe better, added a crossbody bag for another layer, and a bold hat for a pop of color. I pulled out my necklaces so they were on top of the sweatshirt and probably would add a lipstick if I were actually running errands but that’s it!

I wear sneakers with almost everything from sweatpants to dresses and a good pair can elevate any look! I love this silver pair for spring and summer but a fun color would be equally as cute!
A belt bag is the ultimate functional accessory and I’m rarely without mine. Honestly, I prefer them to traditional bags, especially when running around with my kids. I love the idea of adding a bold color to my collection for spring and summer.
