Family Photos 2025

I know it’s 2026 but I never posted our family photos from 2025 here so here we are. I wanted a bolder, moodier color scheme this year and they turned out exactly as I hoped they would! It was a really windy day and my hair was just not cooperating (it was curled when I left the house!) but other than that, I was really happy with the end product. Joe was really excited to have Birdie join the photoshoot this year and I have to say, she was mostly good! I was a little extra stressed with her being there then, but now I love that she’s in these photos… so I’m not sure what we’ll do next year!

How I Chose Our Color Scheme

And didn't buy anything new

I knew I wanted a moodier feel to our photos this year and I also knew I wanted Joseph to wear his light blue suit (since his window of fitting in it was limited). I also knew that Amelia didn’t want to wear a dress and that she had this deep red sequins set from last Christmas that she’d probably only get one more wear out of, so our color scheme was born! I really love the drama the red brings to the green-gray background that is a late October afternoon. I went back and forth on whether or not to buy a dress for myself and while I do love the color and depth my dress adds to the photos, I was not happy with how I felt in it. Pro tip: try on whatever it is that you want to wear *before* your photoshoot… especially if it’s something you haven’t worn in a while!

I’ve had my kids in their Hunter Boots for family photos almost every year. I love the casual element & hint of British elegance they bring and also, they’re really practical for kids. I even wore mine this year because I knew we’d be trudging through fields. They’re comfortable, chic, and adds some cohesiveness to our look.

While my dress was very form fitting this year, I think a dress with a skirt that moves photographs best. Even if it just a little movement at the hemline, like a fluted hem or mermaid skirt, it adds just a little whimsy to the look that I love. Also, typically a fuller skirt helps smooth or hide any harsh lines! I had to add tights to mine at the last minute to achieve the same effect!

We used one of our favorite photographers and friend, Kristy of Glory and Green, and per usual, she was wonderful! I have left every single photoshoot we’ve done with her thinking there’s no way we got anything and have been so incredibly happy with our results. Moreover, my kids love her and actually get excited about taking pictures with her and really, there’s not much more that I can say than that! If you’re local, I highly recommend her!
