When ModCloth challenged me to build an ensemble around their Garden Home Tour Dress in pink for their Uniquely You campaign, I jumped at the chance! This dress reminds me of summer soirees, English gardens, and tea parties, three of my favorite things! I love the cheery print, flattering silhouette, and all of the colors, but, mostly I love that it is so versatile (just think of how many different items in your closet you can pair with it!)! I decided to add some softer accessories to make the dress a bit more appropriate for a garden tea party look (because that’s what I think of when I think of garden parties… and my mind always goes to English gardens and teas), so, I started with some soft blue pumps (with a low enough heel that you won’t be sinking into the ground as you walk!). Then,  I added the striped bag for contrast and to keep the look from being too girly and also, this brown fox belt both to pull in the brown from the bag and because the fox detail is perfect for an English tea. The earrings add a touch of whimsy and charm while keeping with the pastel color palette and the necklace pulls in the blue from the pumps. I included the rose and pearl bobby pins because they were too adorable to leave out and because they’re perfect for pulling some hair away from your face and adding an unexpected touch of color to your hair when you decide to take off the absolutely must-have-for-a-garden-party floppy hat! I love the way the softer colors of the accessories play against the deeper tones of the dress and the mix of girly, playful, and classic pieces really come together to create a perfectly polished yet eclectic look.
