A Weekend at The Tides Inn

We didn’t have any solid spring break plans this year (which actually ended up being wonderful) so we decided to make the drive to a hotel that’s been on my list of places I want to stay for a few years now. The Tides Inn in Irvington, VA is about 4 1/2 hours from Philadelphia so it felt perfect for a 2 night stay. We got in the car around 10am on a Saturday and arrived around 2:30pm.  It was honestly a relatively easy and enjoyable ride and we’re looking forward to getting back for another visit!

We didn’t leave the property this time but there was plenty to do at the Inn! There was only one restaurant open while we were there (the restaurant by the pool was closed) but we ate there both nights for dinner and one morning for breakfast and everything we had was delicious. We even got room service one morning (our favorite!)! I think without a second restaurant, if we had stayed any longer we would have gone into town for additional meals just to get something a little different but town was only a few minutes away!

On the way home we decided to stop at Mount Vernon because it’s been on our list of places to see and it was almost exactly halfway between Irvington, VA, and Philadelphia. I highly recommend it! It was a really cool experience and the grounds were absolutely beautiful.

THINGS TO DO AT THE TIDES INN

Play Some Lawn Games

One of the kids’ favorite activities there were the lawn games! We played croquet, corn hole, and bocce every day that we were there. It was nice to just relax in one spot and have fun as a family.

Go Kayaking

This was our kids’ first time on kayaks and they loved it! Like, they can’t wait to do it again. We each took a kid (they wouldn’t have been able to do it alone) and it was so great just being out on the water!

The Tides Inn has pickleball and tennis courts, plus a 3 hole golf course, that we all enjoyed. It felt good to move and I love any activity we can do as a family. We played pickleball the most and probably were on the courts for at least an hour!

Take a Dip in the Pool

We were there on a hot day and even though the pool wasn’t officially open, they said the kids could jump in if they wanted since they had already prepped it for opening the following week! We didn’t get to take advantage of all the amenities since they weren’t open yet, but I could see how great this space is once it is!

Walk the Shoreline Trail

We didn’t walk the whole trail because the kids were understandably more interested in the games but what we did walk was gorgeous! We saw fish, oysters, and crabs and would have liked to take one of the guided tours they offer! Next time 😉
