dress: Asos (old), mules: Gentle Souls, wallet: Kate Spade (old)
This look never made it to Instagram and this dress is old but I’m including it here because I felt put together and it was probably one of the few times I have this summer. In case you couldn’t tell from my INSTAGRAM, I’ve been keeping it really casual, including wearing minimal makeup. We spent a good bit of June going to graduation parties (seems like I took zero pictures of what I was wearing but I think we attended 3 or 4), July brought 2 baby showers, and August included a wedding and those were really the only times I got dressed nicely. Other than that, it’s been lots of shorts, swim suits, workout gear (not that I’ve been working out in it, though- haha!) and tee shirt dresses (Everlane makes my favorites but I found another really good one at KOTN that I posted about here!)!
dress: Nordstrom
I was pretty proud of this picture as it was a self timer success!
dress: Nordstrom (not a sustainable brand but I bought it before really committing to buying sustainable clothing and I love it), shoes: M.Gemi
I love this dress. I got it in the spring but I’ve already worn it multiple times, including to a wedding (with scrappy heels and a blazer) and to a baby shower (as seen here- I added a denim jacket, too, but it was too hot so I took it off). The reviews suggest ordering 2 sizes up but I got my normal size and it fits really well- I’m trying to build a respectable and classic dress collection and really want to weed out what I don’t wear anymore. I’ve already done a lot but I still have a good bit in my closet that I haven’t worn in years, I just need to update my collection to suit my lifestyle so I’ve kept a lot until I can do so. As I’m trying to shop more sustainably, I’m really only buying quality pieces that I know will last… slow fashion… so it takes a little longer to find good, affordable pieces!
swimsuit: Solid & Striped
This is probably my favorite swim suit I own. It’s by Solid & Striped so not a sustainable brand but I have found some sustainable brands I really want to try such as Summersalt and Vitamin A Swim, if you’re interested! Madewell also came out with a swim line featuring recycled materials.
dress: Nordstrom, flats: Everlane
Floral dresses are my favorite to wear year round, honestly. I’ve always loved floral prints and I think they work for every season. Plus, I don’t know about you but they always make me happy!

shorts: Nordstrom, tank: Everlane, sandals: Steve Madden
I love these chambray shorts. I have 3 pairs of shorts I rotate between: these chambray ones, a black & white striped linen pair, and a cream denim pair of cutoffs by One Teaspoon. Anyway, I never thought I was a shorts person until I found these… and now I’m a shorts person!

Does anyone else feel like they blinked and the summer was gone? Between aforementioned parties, weddings, and Joe traveling twice, it just seemed to disappear. I’m trying to find a balance between enjoying the rest of summer (luckily, my kids aren’t really going “back to school” yet- at least not full time!- and I get to be home with them during the day) and planning some fun things for fall so here’s to that! I also have some fun posts planned coming up- maybe I’ll even get a newsletter set up to send out weekly or when I do publish a post 🙂 I’m also trying to take some time to get more organized and to manage my time better starting in September when *both* kids will be in school so send me all of your tips! I want to hone in on what I want to focus on with the blog (more health & sustainable living posts, motherhood, travel… maybe even start up the book club again?!), how I want to spend my time with the kids, and how I divide my time at home… maybe I’ll even do a full post on that- there has to be someone out there who struggles with time management as much as I do!
