Motherhood: From a Mom of Two

For the fourth installment of this Motherhood series (short aside: I know, it should technically be the fifth but I ended up skipping June since I was so sick this pregnancy… as in still sick on prescription anti-nausea medication… if you’ve been following along for a while, you’ve noticed that I haven’t been as regular with my blog posts in the last month or two and by now you also know that I’m expecting Baby #2… so if you’ve assumed that’s why I’ve been kind of MIA lately, you guessed correctly!) I’ve asked blogger and mama of two Courtney to share a story in her experience with Motherhood. I know you’re going to love her as much as I do (check her out on Instagram, too!)!

Hello, hello!! I am so honored that Brittany ask me to share a post on motherhood for her darling blog! I have to say that while my kids drive me totally batty some days, and don’t even get me started on what I would give to sleep through the night (still hasn’t happened since James was born 9 months ago), but dang. I am OBSESSED with my kids and I loooove being their momma! Since becoming a mom of TWO (it still blows my mind at times that I have two kids now!) my favorite part of it is seeing the sweet bond between Mia and James. Mia has been so in tune and so in love with baby brother since they day I found out I was pregnant and I pray that they always stay close! Today I wanted to share one of my favorite stories from when I was still pregnant with James.

Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I kept thinking we were going to have a boy. I couldn’t tell you if that feeling came from intuition, or the fact that I only had a boy name picked out, ha ha! When I shared the story of how we surprisingly found out the gender early, I mentioned that I wasn’t surprised about a boy, especially since Mia told me she was getting a baby brother. So here’s the story 🙂

On March 5th, exactly one month after discovering I was pregnant (and Mia telling me that night that there was a baby in my belly) Mia told me the baby was a boy. We were doing our nightly ritual of rocking in the chair, reading a story, singing a couple of songs and praying before tucking her into bed. She mentioned the baby (with no prompting from me) and patted my tummy. I told her that baby loved her, and she replied with what sounded like she was trying to call the baby “baby brudder”. So of course I asked her if the baby was a girl or boy?… She got a huge smile on her face and said, “BOY!”

Big sister was right!! I just love how in tune Mia has been with my pregnancy! Baby brother is the luckiest ever to have Mia looking out for him!

These two are seriously the sweetest and they make the world a better place. Cheesy, but it’s true 😉 As I said before, I hope they stay this close forever!! I would love some parenting tips on how to go about teaching them of the importance of family and staying close as they continue to grow, start to fight, etc 🙂

I hope you guys all had a great weekend! We spent most of ours at the beach and it was so nice! I’m so grateful that Amelia loves the sand and ocean so much! She could sit there for hours and it makes my mama heart so full watching her play and discover new things. I can’t believe I have a 17 month old and will have another baby in December (which really isn’t as far away as it sounds!)! Happy Monday!

❤Britt
