Though Joe and I don’t always exchange Valentine’s Day gifts (some years we do, some years we don’t… it typically just depends what is going on… like this year we may not because of our home renovation that is currently happening), I wanted to come up with a fun list of gift ideas in case you need some inspiration. I’m really into all things green beauty and skincare right now and even if you’re not exchanging gifts with someone, what better excuse is there to practice self love than on Valentine’s Day? Grab a face mask (restore, hydrate, renew), a good bottle of wine, a light hearted movie or book, and just take time to relax.
Anyway, my favorite gifts are beauty products (I really need a good, green facial cleanser and/or oil) I’ve been wanting (but don’t want to spend the money on myself because, you know, kids… it would be a fun gift to do a basket filled with a few nice beauty products!), a good tote bag (these also are not typically cheap- Joe’s really good at getting me a good bag that I love but wouldn’t buy myself- he’s gotten me this one and this one and I LOVE them both! Also love this red one and this woven one! Oh, & this quilted one…), a really nice piece of jewelry (obsessed with Monica Vinader right now) or a fun piece of jewelry to wear on a special occasion, that pair of shoes you’ve been wanting for months but don’t really “need” (ahem, Joe… these have been calling my name for a while now), a framed photo of a special moment you want to remember forever (love Framebridge and Artifact Uprising) or of a special art piece (I love Clare Elsaesser, Janet Hill, and any kind of water view that reminds me of the sea or green hills that remind me of Ireland)…
Other ideas include personalizing something (a piece of jewelry with your birthstone or your those of your kids, engraving a necklace with a special name/s, monogramming a bag/pouch/shirt- anything can be monogrammed!, creating or commissioning a piece of art with your favorite quote or song lyrics), planning a special night where you either cook dinner at home or go out, planning a nice hotel stay AND booking a babysitter in advance, spending the night talking over a bottle of wine and decadent desserts after the kids go to bed…
