Happy New Year! I hope you had a great holiday and really enjoyed some downtime with your families! We took it really slow all winter break and felt really lucky that it was so long this year. I’m not really a New Year’s resolution kind of girl (I wholeheartedly believe that each day is a fresh start!) and I haven’t posted any “ins and outs” yet on Instagram (though I do think that’s a fun one to do!), but I did post my annual video as a reflection on the previous year! So many of my videos are just of everyday moments and it makes me so happy looking back on them and seeing how much we just enjoyed being together and cherishing that normal, everyday kind of magic despite whatever was going on at the time.
I have a few things I want to accomplish this year like treating this blog like an actual income-generating job, finishing a few paint projects I have around the house… and starting some new ones… and really continuing to focus on my health and my family’s health (and getting back to making smoothies for everyone!)! I also started a Substack, The Whimsy Letters… will you subscribe here?! What’s on your list of things you want to accomplish this year?!

What I'm Carrying Into the New Year
On familiarity, ease, and choosing what already works
I love new clothes as much as the next person and I also know that I don’t really *need* everything that I buy… so, I’m working on choosing what already works and being more intentional about what I’m bringing into my closet. I’m looking at what basics I already have and trying to go through and give away what no longer fits or feels like me. I heavily prioritize pieces that are comfortable but polished, made with quality and sustainable materials, and can be dressed up or dressed down. Plus, I want what I’m wearing to make me feel happy and adding some color to my outfit usually does the trick! This is the criteria I’ll be using when deciding what stays and what pieces are worth owning (& buying) & what goes.
Anyway, you can expect a lot of the same from me here this year! A lot of style posts sharing how I infuse color and print into my everyday looks (when I’m not wearing sweatpants!), clean beauty favorites, and I’m planning on sharing more of our home projects here this year. I’m always striving for attainable refinement, never aspirational perfection and I hope that is what you feel when you read my posts!
Drawstring pants lend a casual vibe to any look, plus they’re also generally more comfortable! I don’t want anything fitting too tight against my body right now and these drawstring pants elevate any casual look. I love them so much I have them in two colors!
Shoes play such an integral part of an outfit, often pulling together an entire look. A shoe with a hint of sparkle or color is an instant outfit maker and I love that these silver sneakers are also incredibly comfortable (plus, they’re sustainable!)!
