Our dearest Amelia,
On one hand, your Dad and I can’t believe you’re a whole year old already and on the other hand, we struggle to remember what life was like without you. You bring more peace, love, and happiness to our lives than you will ever know. You make us smile and laugh (and sometimes cry), but mostly, you make us feel so proud and blessed to be your parents. Over the past year, you’ve been through so much and you’ve handled it all so well. You’ve made it through two NICU stays in two different hospitals, numerous sleep studies, dealt with your fair share of medical equipment (including Oxygen, a feeding tube, a CPAP, and an apnea monitor), endured countless doctors’ visits, weekly physical therapy appointments, one surgery and a couple of procedures, and somehow you still manage to be such a good, happy, sweet baby who makes everyone smile (usually because they have to work so hard to get you to smile and are totally hooked once they see it!)! You’re crawling everywhere, including up the stairs, standing on your own, and desperately trying to walk (you’ve only taken a few unassisted steps so far!) and though you’re not the best sleeper (you never really have been!), you’re dad and I never mind getting up with you and rocking you back to sleep because we know we won’t get to do it for much longer. You’re growing up so quickly and while I love every minute of it, I can’t get enough of spending time with you! You love food and are the best eater (you’ll eat pretty much anything that we put in front of you), you love your dog and the cats and share all of your snacks with Niko, and you love music and dancing. You still love the bath and you’re talking like crazy. I’m trying to teach you your colors right now but you can point to my nose, mouth, and eyes and you love “so big” and “peek-a-boo,” you know a bunch of songs, LOVE Mulan and Tinkerbell (and I’m working on Cinderella), love to read, and love to cuddle. You have three teeth (two on the bottom and one on the top) and have a fourth one coming in on the top now. You’re so much fun to be around and even though I’m lucky enough to be able to be with you every day, I feel like it’s never enough! Your Dad and I love you so, so much… beyond words and to the moon and back. Happy first birthday, sweetheart.
We love you!

Happy Monday, guys! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Ours was pretty busy but pretty great- Thursday and Friday we prepped (baked, cleaned, shopped, and set up) for Amelia’s first birthday on Saturday, Saturday was the party (Cinderella themed, or at least we used Cinderella colors… I’m not much of a theme person… anyway, stay tuned for a full post on the party this week!), and Sunday we had a relaxing morning, went out for seriously awesome lattes (follow me Instagram for more details), and had dinner with family.
