Aside from the fact that I’ve been trying not to buy a whole lot (you know, new house, new mortgage and all…), I’m also not the most organized person and I usually wait until the last minute when it comes to deciding on an outfit. I do really try to get the most wear out of what I have, though, and that means finding ways to make your clothes span the seasons by using what is already in your closet. It doesn’t always work out (recently I wore a mint green floral dress and definitely did not accessorize it to it’s full potential so I felt very mismatched) but a lot of times it works out better than I expected, like in the case of this emerald green dress!
When I bought this green floral dress last spring, I did not think it would be as versatile as I’ve found it to be. I also felt the same way about these blue velvet sock booties, though, and I wear them with everything from dresses to boyfriend jeans and with every color from neutrals to pink to green. I LOVE velvet but I’m more of a velvet shoe person rather than clothes, mostly because I think I can wear the shoes more often. I’m not sure how often I would wear a velvet top or skirt (though I love the look of them, too!)!
Right now, my wish list is heavy on shoes, lounge clothes (my love for athleisure is still going strong), and sweaters. Here are some of my favorite shoes right now, there’s actually a pair of velvet loafers on it:
I love adding color to my looks just as much as ever but now I try to stick to a statement piece or two. A bold dress or pair of shoes is a really great place to start if you want to add a punch of color to your look, too! Fall is the only time of year where I’m heavily craving neutrals or darker colors so pieces like this are a good investment for me as I will wear color most of the year. And jewel tones work for every season (though I think any color can work for any season, really!)!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I’m sure everyone feels the same way but I have to say it anyway… I can’t believe it’s already the last week of 2018! I’m working on a big post for the end/beginning of the year with some challenges/plans for myself and am looking forward to sharing them with you in case anyone wants to jump in with me! Thanks so much for reading!
