Ok, so first thing first, I want to mention that I honestly do love this sale and I get a lot of really great pieces from it every year. However, the hype surrounding it this year has been extremely overwhelming. You do NOT need to purchase anything from this sale! It’s great if you have it in your budget and there is something you’ve been saving for, something you need, or if this is when you start to stock up on Christmas gifts but, again, do not fall into the trap of purchasing something because “everyone else is.” The first day is absolutely crazy and I decided to take my kids to the beach for the day rather than shop the #NSale so there are already a lot of things sold out that I thought I liked. For transparency’s sake, I am not sure there’s a whole lot I’m going to buy this sale (everything on this list is basically what I’m considering). I know I’ve talked about it before, but I’m really trying to support only sustainable brands and to buy materials that aren’t harmful to us or the environment as well as move away from fast fashion and trends, and while this sale does have some really great investment pieces (pieces that I’ll wear multiple times in the coming seasons and years), it can be hard to sort through what is “fast fashion” and what will last. I’ve also learned that I don’t like to be rushed when shopping and this sale feels so rushed, so I’m sure a lot of what I like will sell out before I decide to buy (one good thing about Nordstrom, though, is that they offer free shipping both ways!), and that’s ok. I haven’t been “wowed” so far by many pieces but there are a few things on my list that I’m thinking about getting. I am seriously considering buying a Barbour jacket and I could use a new pair of booties (the shoe selection is actually really great this year!) and there’s a couple Patagonia items on sale that I like (they’re selling out super fast, though).
